If you read my last blog, you will know that Scott's mum and brother really enjoyed meeting Esiotrot. Can you guess what animal Esiotrot is? The clue - The answer is in the name.

Scott had his 9th birthday party at Emmanuel Church in Bridlington and invited Animals In-Tuition along to join in the fun. Esiotrot was definately the favourite animal for Scott's mum and his older brother. However the highlight for Scott was meeting Lilly the Brazilian Black Tarantula. This was Scotts first time holding a tarantula, well done!

Children at the Riverside Care Club spent Wednesday morning handling and learning about some of our animals. We had a great time and the kids asked some great questions about the animals.

What a great turn out when I went to visit Hallamshire care home in Sheffield. A great response for Minnie the rabbit, who was so popular she came out again for an encore. Well done to all who had a feel of Crunchy Nut the Corn Snake. Honey the Guinea pig certainly had a lot of admirers. Also Edward the Rat( one half of Jedward) put in an appearance and provided some great photo opportunities sitting on some willing volunteers shoulders and twitching his whiskers.

What a great time had by all at the Jaguar family fun day at Etihad stadium in Manchester. Crunchy Nut , Corn Snake and Chloe the Royal Python were on top form, even getting a picture with the Manchester City team mascots. Rose the Tarantula put in an appearance and was certainly a hit! However the creatures with the most “street cred” on the day were Ant & Dec, the Madagascan Hissing Cockroaches. Minnie the Rabbit and Jedward ( John & Edward the Rats) also joined in the fun and well done to everyone who came along to make this a special day for all.

The children at West meadows had a special treat to celebrate their excellent attendance record. To cap it all Barnsley Chronicle came along to record the fun and make a splash on the front page of the Hoyland edition.
All the animals went down a storm including Puff the Bearded Dragon, Crunchy Nut the Corn Snake, Chloe the Royal Python and Rose the Tarantula. Puff was a star by giving some special volunteers an ear cleanlines inspection and others a hug, whilst he sat on their shoulder. Well done to everyone who plucked up the courage to hold Rose, the Chilean Rose Tarantula. Very impressed with everyone’s animal knowledge. I think we definitely have some budding conservationists for the future.

Snakes, Spiders and Sugar Gliders were amongst the animals visiting Hazel Grove on Friday, where the pupils were studying classification and adaptations. The session was great fun and some of the students managed to overcome their fears by handling the snakes and tarantula. Well done to you all, looking forward to our next visit on Monday.
